1. WHO CAN APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?

- Nationals of one of the 5 participating extra-European countries, who are Bachelor/Master students, PhD candidates, or who have obtained a degree which formally allows to pursue an Undergraduate, Master, Doctoral programme. Post-Doctoral researchers, University Professors and University Administrative Staff.

- Nationals of the European Union who are Master students or PhD candidates at the European Partner Universities, PhDs working at the European Partner Universities who would like to pursue a Post-Doctoral research, Professors or Administrative Staff of the European partner Universities.

2.WHAT IS THE TYPE OF MOBILITY? WHAT ARE THE TARGET GROUPS (TG) AND TO WHICH I BELONG TO?

The SILKROAD project offers 113 scholarships for short mobilities and full degree programmes, the scholarship distribution must consider the Type of mobility and Target group (TG).

The Type of Mobility is the level of study/mobility.

There are 5 types:

a) Undergraduate

b) Master

c) Doctorate

d) Post Doctorate

e) Academic and Administrative Staff mobility (University staff).

 

The Target Groups (TG) are sets of citizens that serve as a reference for the scholarship distribution. There are 3 groups:
 

a. TARGET GROUP 1 (TG1)

 

- Non-EU: Nationals of the  5 participating Central Asian countries who are registered or working in one of the  14 Central Asian Universities members of the SILKROUTE partnership. 

Types of mobility they can apply to:

Undergraduate

Master 

Doctorate

Post-Doctorate

Academic and administrative staff

 
 

- EU: Nationals of any EU country who are registered or working in one of the 6 European Universities members of the SILKROUTE partnership. 

This includes students, PhD candidates, researchers, professors and administrative staff.

Doctorate

Post-Doctorate

Academic and administrative staff

 

b. TARGET GROUP 2 (TG2)

 

 Only non-EU: Nationals of the  5 participating Central Asian countries who are:

1. registered/working at a university of the 5 Central Asian countries involved NOT MEMBER of the SILKROUTE consortium (Associated partner’s candidates are TG2)

or

2. are alumni from any University of the 5 Central Asian countries involved in the Project (included the  14 Universities members of the SILKROUTE partnership).

  • Additional requirement: Candidates must have obtained a degree or equivalent by a Higher Education Institution of the 5 Central Asian countries involved.
  • This includes the possibility of providing mobility opportunities to nationals working in public administration, public and private enterprises and non-profit organisations.

Academic and administrative staff 

 

c. TARGET GROUP 3 (TG3): "VULNERABLE GROUPS"  (DOES NOT INCLUDE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS)

Nationals of the  5 participating countries who are in particularly vulnerable situations, for social and political reasons.
  • For example:         
  1. Stateless people, people without citizenship
  2. Asylum beneficiaries or people who have a refugee status.
  3. Victims of discrimination (for political, ethnic, sexual reasons)
  4. Victims of terrorism or conflicts
  5. Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

but also:

  • People belonging to national minorities
  • Romans / Gypsies
  • People living in remote regions with difficult access to public services
  • Corruption victims
  • Victims of natural disasters or radiation exposure
  • Turkmen nationals studying in other Central Asian countries or holding a degree from other Central Asian countries

3. RESTRICTIONS

Non-EU Candidates of Target Group 1 & 2:  Must have not resided nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc) for more than a total of 12 months over the last 5 years in any  European country at the time of submitting their application to the partnership.

Candidates of all Target Groups: Must not be beneficiaries of another Erasmus Mundus scholarship at the time of submitting their application to the partnership or during all the period of international mobility.

Candidates of all Target Groups: Must have not been beneficiaries of another Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the same level of mobility.
